A historic milestone
75 years of company service
On Friday, June 26, 2026, our senior manager, Edgar Kremer, was honored for a truly extraordinary milestone.
Long-serving employees, members of the works council, and colleagues from the design and engineering team joined his son Peter and granddaughter Lena to congratulate him on an incredible 75 years of service with the company.
Visibly surprised and deeply honored, Edgar welcomed the group in the midday heat.
“I certainly wasn’t expecting this,” said the soon-to-be 90-year-old, beaming with joy.
Fortunately, his wife Hedwig Kremer, daughter of the company’s founder Alexander Schleicher, had been well-informed of the surprise beforehand and had already prepared water and non-alcoholic beer for a celebratory toast in the comfort of their living room.
Joschka Schmeisl, Head of Manufacturing and Engineering, presented Edgar with a copy of his apprenticeship contract from 1951, joking, “Nothing ever gets lost around here!”
Visibly moved, the jubilarian looked over the document which he had signed as a 15-year-old boy.
The gathering then took a nostalgic journey through the past century.
What was it like back then? Which milestones make you especially proud?
Edgar Kremer happily shared his memories, speaking about the demanding years of his apprenticeship, the joy he found in his work, the company’s transition from wood to composite materials, the people who shaped his career, memorable conversations, and countless other experiences accumulated over 75 remarkable years.
“What I’m especially proud of, though, is my Golden Master Craftsman’s Certificate,” added the trained carpenter.
The guests eagerly took the opportunity to admire this prestigious award as well.
A group photo concluded the heartfelt surprise visit.
The entire team at Alexander Schleicher Segelflugzeugbau congratulates Edgar Kremer on this truly remarkable anniversary.
We sincerely thank him for his decades of dedication, his lifelong commitment, and the legacy he has built. We wish him continued good health, many happy moments, and many more fulfilling years with his family.
