AS 35 Mi – Update & pilots’ reports

We want to give you an update on the testing of the AS 35 Mi and also share some feedback from our pilots.

Testing right on track

Since the maiden flight in November 2025, the focus for the AS 35 Mi team has primarily been on one thing: testing, testing, and more testing.

Step by step, the flight test program is being completed, and after every test flight, our engineering team comes to the same conclusion: what an outstanding aircraft!

The analysis of the flight data confirms this impression on paper as well. All specifications have been met, calculated data verified, and expectations exceeded. Regulatory limits – such as noise emissions – were comfortably undercut without the need for any major adjustments so far.

The "new favorite"

“It is extremely rewarding to see the calculations validated in real life,” says project manager Tobias Mörsel. “The aircraft provides calm yet precise feedback and performs just as convincingly in thermalling as it does during high-speed cruising.”

Design engineer Paul Anklam adds: “We achieved our goal of developing what you could casually describe as a ‘grown-up AS 33.’ The AS 35 Mi combines all of its strengths while delivering an even more stable and refined feel in the air.”

Thanks to its exceptionally stable flight characteristics, pilots are able to maintain a high level of concentration even during long and demanding flights – benefiting not only safety, but above all the pure enjoyment of flying.

Our CEOs, Peter and Ulrich Kremer, have also had the opportunity to experience the latest addition to the Schleicher portfolio firsthand.

“The AS 35 Mi is well on its way to becoming my new personal favorite,” Ulrich shares with a smile.

On the home stretch

Most of the required specifications and certification criteria have now been successfully completed, and EASA type certification is within reach.

Preparations for serial production are already in full swing at our manufacturing facilities, and the entire Schleicher team is looking forward to bringing the AS 35 Mi into production.

While an exact timeline for the launch of production cannot yet be announced, “we are optimistic about starting production in the third quarter of 2026,” Head of Production and Design Joschka Schmeisl says.
