After the good experiences with the ASK 14 (K 12) it was natural to proceed with the development of a two-seater motorglider with side-by-side seating and a nose mounted propeller.
Rudolf Kaiser built the K 16 X for his own use in his garage. He extended the span to 17.35 m and installed the now available more powerful 80 PS Limbach SL 2300 engine as well as a quieter Hoffmann 3-position propeller. The fuselage was built entirely from wood.
