Peter Temple becomes Australian Champion in Benalla

18m Class: ASG 29 pilots in positions 1-9

Peter Temple won the 2016 Australian soaring championships in Benalla (also the dress rehearsal for the World Championships in the next year) in his ASG 29. With two day wins and consistently high daily placings on the other competition days he was able to reach the top of the podium at the end.

High average speeds, at times over 130 km/hr., were not infrequent during the competition. For example, on the 5th. competition day Peter Temple averaged almost 145 km/hr. over a distance of 455 km. On the last day guest pilot Zoltan Verebelyi (HU) had a tremendous „ride“ of over 160 km/hr. over a distance of 401 km. with his ASG 29.

John Buchanan, who also just became Australian sports class champion, finished in second place in the 18m class.

Tom Claffey was third with his ASG 29. Zoltan Verebelyi (HU), Peter Svoboda (CZ), David Jansen (AUS), Peter Szabo (HU), Thomas Gostner (I) and Börje Eriksson (S) finished in places 4-9 in their ASG 29s at this Australian championship in Benalla.
