After his success at the 2015 18m European Championships with an ASG 29, we would like to again congratulate Sebastian Kawa on becoming the 2017 European champion with a Schleicher sailplane. This time it was in the 20m two-seater class, together with Christoph Matkowski, the Schleicher representative in Poland.

Because of a long bad weather period, the start of the 19th. European Championships in Moravská Třebová, was delayed until the 5th. day of the competition.  Sebastian and Christoph were immediately able to start off with a win on this day.

They were able to maintain this lead for the remainder of the competition. Additional day wins were achieved by the Polish duo on days 7 and 9.

Except for the first competition day, somewhat small tasks were set which made it difficult to correct small errors.  However, Sebastian Kawa and Christoph Matkowski flew very consistently and after six days of flying were happy to win the title of European Champions in the 20m two-seater class for the Polish team.

Our congratulations also go the new European Champions of the other two classes: Tim Kuijpers (NL, Club class) and Pavel Louzecky (CZ, Standard class).
