The K 7 is the third aircraft model after the 1927 founding of the Schleicher Company to bear the name “Rhönadler”.
With the K 7, the single capital K was introduced instead of the “Ka” for Kaiser.
While the earlier Ka 2 was a training aircraft capable of being used for cross-country flying, the K 7 was intended as a high performance two-seater without compromising robustness.
