The AS 33 Me is airborne!

At 11:33 a.m. local time, the AS 33 Me finally took off for the first time from the Huhnrain factory airfield. It was flown by Tobias Mörsel, one of our engineers.

The maiden flight of the AS 33 Me took place in aerotow in order to first extensively test the aircraft and the electrical system in the air.
At a safe altitude, he checked the engine for proper functioning with various power settings and over the entire speed range. As expected, the Me engine proved trouble-free and once again emphasized its smooth and quiet engine running.

After Tobias returned with a smile everything was ready for the first self launch of the AS 33 Me. Power lever up and off we went. Again the AS 33 Me exceeded the expectations.
Despite gusty winds the AS 33 Me accelerated quickly and did not show the higher weight of the electric drive. Due to the flaps the AS 33 Me takes off even earlier than its sister the AS 34 Me and shows directly after take off how much power it has.

After not even 4 minutes 600 m were reached and the AS 33 Me could be flown through the Rhön with its already known performance.

Congratulations to all involved in the project!
Of course we don’t want to withhold the pictures from you and this time you can also watch the process up to the self launch in video form.
