ASH 31 Mi – and ASG 29 – pilots win at the US-Nationals

Even if the number of competition days was rather small, we can nevertheless congratulate the Schleicher pilots on their outstanding results at the US nationals in Cordele (GA).
Doug Jacobs wins the Open class in his ASH 31 Mi and becomes the new US champion. Second place went to Dick Butler in his Concordia. Sam Zimmermann (ASH 31 Mi) and Roger Buchanan (ASH 30 Mi) came 4th and 5th and were able to stay close to the leaders. Pete Alexander (ASG 32 Mi) placed 8th. learn more

Exactly ten years after first becoming world champion, Katrin Senne repeated this terrific success, this time in the 18m class at the 2017 Women’s World Championships in Zbraslavice, Czech Republic.
It began slowly for the ASG 29 pilot.
But, after an eighth place on the first competition day, she continually moved up and first reached the podium with a win on the 5th competition day. learn more

The weather gods meant well with the 2017 international Hahnweide Competition. Nearly every day flying was possible, which was not a certainty so far this season.
The ASG 29 pilot Peter Millenaar from the Netherlands won the 18m class after two daily wins and good placing on all the other days. learn more
John Gatfield wins FAI Grand Prix in Spain
Success for the ASG 29 Es pilot in Santa Cilia
After five competition days, Briton Jon Gatfield from Lasham was the overall winner of the Spanish FAI Sailplane Grand Prix 2017 in Santa Cilia, which included many international pilots.
With good daily point placings on all days and a 1st place on the last competition day, the ASG 29 Es pilot placed 1st at the end, followed by Thomas Gostner and Friedolin Hauser.

Jerzy Szempliski wins the US Grand Prix and Region 5 North Contest

ASG 29 pilot Jerzy Szemplinski has had a very successful start to the season.
To begin with the Canadian won the US Grand Prix in Orlando. Then, three weeks later, Jerzy again found himself right at the top of the podium at the US Region 5 North contest in the 18m class. learn more

Great interest at the 2017 Aero

Again this year the Schleicher stand at the 2017 Aero in Friedrichshafen was consistently busy. A large number of visitors used the occasion to sit in one of the sailplanes on display or ask questions which were gladly answered by the AS Exhibition team.
With the 20m two-seaters ASG 32 Mi and ASG 32 EI, the 18m class ASG 29 Es and the compact open class sailplane ASH 31 Mi, interested pilots from within and outside of Germany had the most modern aircraft from our model range available to them.
