It’s that time again, the Aerokurier honors the best innovations of the year. This time, though, not as usual at the Aero in Friedrichshafen, but only in writing and pictures. However, this is not less reason for joy, because we could reach the places 1 and 2 in the readers’ choice. A total of over 58% of the readers voted for one of our aircraft.

The AS 33 wins three competitions in a row!

After the victory in Austria, the AS 33 also shows its class in Poland and Finland.

After the AS 33 flew the first 1000 km flight and the first 1000 km triangle with Christian Mäx and won the first competition in the 15 m variant with Guido Achleitner, it remains on the road of success.

We could celebrate two victories at the weekend. In Poland there was a thriller lasting 8 days, which was decided on the last day. In Finland, Petri Sucksdorff let the AS 33 off the leash and was able to regain the lead shortly before the end.

Bill & Brad Edwards

Brad Edwards was able to repeat his success with the ASG 32 Mi from last year at the Australian double-seater championships in 2021 and once again became Australian champion. This time with his brother Bill Edwards as co-pilot.

Already on the second day of the competition in Narromine, the two took the lead of the field and did not let the lead be taken away until the end. On the seventh and last day of the competition, they were able to set a very special signal once again with an average speed of almost 130 km/h over a distance of 396 km.

The AS 33 will become an Electric Self-launcher!

Our new 18m sailplane will be equipped with an electric propulsion system with the type designation AS 33 Me.

In the meantime, with the ASG 32 El “turbo” system and the self-launching AS 34 Me we already have two electrical propulsion systems in or close to series production.  At the same time, the interest among soaring pilots for electric flying is continuously increasing. Simple operation and reduced maintenance requirements are powerful arguments in this regard.
